The Kakmara of India

The Kakmara of India, numbering approximately 900 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a small semi-nomadic community of Midnapur district in West Bengal. The Kakmara migrated from Andhra Pradesh. Their name derives from their former practice of hunting crows, or kak. They now subsist chiefly by seeking alms and rearing pigs. They mostly adhere to Hinduism and Telugu is their primary language.
