Affinity Bloc:
South Asian Peoples
Overview:
Aside from the larger castes—Badhai, Bhoi, Jat, Kahar, Kapu, Kayastha, Kumhar, Kunbi, Kurmi, Mahishya, Mahratta, Mali, Nai, Sonar, Teli, Vanniyan, Viswakarma, Vokkaliga, and Yadav—there are numerous other Hindu groups classified as OBC (Other Backward Class), a collective term used by the Indian government to classify castes which are educationally or socially disadvantaged, considered the fourth Varna in the Brahmanical pecking order of human beings. By some accounts, OBCs comprise over 40% of India's population. This cluster is a collection of various smaller Hindu OBCs.
