Overview:
The Nai (Napit) are an occupational caste of barbers found throughout India. Hair-cutting, shaving and match-making are the traditional occupations of the Nai. They are distributed in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam and Tripura. In West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura they are called Napit.
