Overview: Mon-Khmer is a major language family of southeast Asia. The language family derives its name from the two largest languages, Central Khmer, a language of Cambodia and Mon, a language of Myanmar, but 145 other languages are also classified within the Mon-Khmer language family. The Mon-Khmer people cluster encompasses this diverse mix of people groups, among whom Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and ethnic religions are all widely practiced.
