Overview: Amazigh are the indigenous ethnic group of North Africa west of the Nile Valley. The Kabyle are an Algerian ethno-cultural and linguistic Amazigh community who take their name from their homeland of Kabylia in northern Algeria. Traditionally, the term "Berber" has been used by outsiders to refer to the Amazigh, but the term "Berber" is inherently discriminatory and the endonym "Amazigh" is preferred.
