The Turi of India

The Turi of India, numbering approximately 380,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste of Ranchi, Gumla, and Lohardaga districts, Bihar, Hinduized Mundas whose name recalls basket-making from the word tokri. This craft continues alongside agriculture, service, and rickshaw-pulling. They are an Indigenous people in the Munda-Santal people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Sadri and their primary religion is Hinduism.
