They are an indigenous ethnic group native to the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and parts of Mount Meru in northeastern Tanzania. They are an Diaspora people, in the Bantu, Central-East people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Roman Catholicism. They primarily speak Swahili.
