They are described as an indigenous ethnic group native to the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and parts of Mount Meru in northeastern Tanzania .
They are an Diaspora people, with Chagga (Mochi) as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Bantu, Central-East people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African.
Their primary religion is Christianity - Roman Catholicism.
They primarily speak Swahili.
