They are described as a Tamil-speaking fishing community of Andhra Pradesh that migrated from Tamil Nadu, divided into marine and inland fishing sections. They are also known as Chambada and Gangaputrulu, and sell fresh and dried fish in local markets They are an Indigenous people, with Chamadollu as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Telugu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Tamil.
