The Kambar of India, numbering approximately 37,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are described as a Tamil-speaking community, also called Occhan, named for the poet Kamban. The Kambar traditionally serving as temple musicians and priests in Kali temples. One subgroup teaches classical Bharatanatyam dance They are an Indigenous people, with Kambar as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Tamil people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Tamil.
