They are a small Marathi Sunni Muslim community—probably linked to Kunbi agricultural society—traditionally associated with flower cultivation and temple-related work. They are an Indigenous people in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Urdu and their primary religion is Sunni Islam.
