The Baharupi of India

The Baharupi of India, numbering approximately 5,300 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a traditional community of mimics and folk-theater performers whose name derives from the Sanskrit bahu ("many") and rupa ("form"), meaning one who assumes many characters. They are concentrated in Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. They are an Indigenous people in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Marathi and their primary religion is Hinduism.
