The Wainadan Pulayan of India

The Wainadan Pulayan of India, numbering approximately 7,100 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a community of Wayanad district, Kerala, also called Matha-Pulayan, traditionally basket-makers, mat-weavers, and laborers. Agriculture and government or private jobs now support most families, and they worship the goddess Kali. They are an Indigenous people in the Malayali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Malayalam and their primary religion is Hinduism.
