The Neeli of India

The Neeli of India, numbering approximately 27,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a dyeing community of Nanded, Aurangabad, Sholapur, and Mumbai districts in Maharashtra who migrated from Andhra Pradesh, their name recalling the indigo color. Handloom weaving and dyeing remain their occupations. They are an Indigenous people in the Telugu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Telugu and their primary religion is Hinduism.
