They are one of the largest and most influential agrarian communities of India and Pakistan, with a long history in farming, pastoralism, landholding, and military service. They are an Indigenous people, in the Jat people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Islam - Sunni. They primarily speak Sindhi.
