They are described as a linguistic subgroup of the Tats, an Iranian ethnic group predominantly found in the East Azerbaijan province of northern Iran They are an Indigenous people, with Harzani as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Talysh people cluster of the Persian-Median Peoples. Their primary religion is Shia Islam. They primarily speak Karingani.
