They are described as a linguistic subgroup of the Tats, an Iranian ethnic group predominantly found in the East Azerbaijan province of northern Iran and can also be known as Karingani.
They are an Indigenous people, with Harzani as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Talysh people cluster of the Persian-Median.
Their primary religion is Islam - Shia.
They primarily speak Karingani.
