The Baraua of India

The Baraua of India, numbering approximately 500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are an occupational community of Madhya Pradesh said to have sprung from the Dhimar and Kewat, whose women traditionally worked as maid-servants. They follow clan exogamy and now subsist on fishing, labor and trade. They are an Indigenous people in the Hindi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Bundeli and their primary religion is Hinduism.
