The Merat of India

The Merat of India, numbering approximately 410,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a community of Ajmer district in Rajasthan tracing descent from a son of the Rajput king Prithviraj Chauhan. The Merat are now Muslim while retaining some Hindu customs. Landowning agriculture remains their primary occupation. They are an Indigenous people in the Urdu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Mewari and their primary religion is Sunni Islam.
