The Devadiga of India

The Devadiga of India, numbering approximately 192,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Karnataka and Kerala community also known as Sherigaru, traditionally serving as musicians in Hindu temples, and following a matrilineal system of inheritance in which property passes through the female line. They are an Indigenous people in the Other South Asian people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Tulu and their primary religion is Hinduism.
