The Devadiga of India

The Devadiga of India, numbering approximately 192,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are described as a Karnataka and Kerala community also known as Sherigaru, traditionally serving as musicians in Hindu temples, and following a matrilineal system of inheritance in which property passes through the female line They are an Indigenous people, with Devadiga as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Other South Asian people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Tulu.
