The Malayali of India

The Malayali of India, numbering approximately 460,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Scheduled Tribe of the Jawadi and Shervaroy hills in Tamil Nadu believed descended from Vellala cultivators who migrated from Kanchipuram. Agriculture remains principal, supplemented by sericulture and honey-collection. They are an Indigenous people in the Malayali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Tamil and their primary religion is Hinduism.
