They are an ethnolinguistic subgroup of the wider Uzbek people group, a Turkic ethnic group indigenous to the Central Asian region . They are an Indigenous people, in the Uzbek people cluster of the Turkic Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Islam - Sunni. They primarily speak Uzbek, Northern.
