They are described as a Persian-speaking Iranian people indigenous to Afghanistan, historically associated with settled communities in the country's northern, northeastern, western, and urban regions and organized chiefly around family and locality rather than tribes They are an Indigenous people, with Tajik as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Tajik people cluster of the Persian-Median Peoples. They mostly adhere to Sunni Islam and Dari is their primary language.
