They are an Austronesian ethnolinguistic people belonging to the Rotenese (Roti/Rote) population of Rote Island, the southernmost island of Indonesia, located just southwest of Timor in East Nusa Tenggara Province (Nusa Tenggara Timur) They are an Indigenous people, in the Timor people cluster of the Malay Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Protestantism. They primarily speak Termanu.
