The Karmali of India, numbering approximately 87,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are described as a small indigenous tribal community of eastern India, traditionally known as artisan blacksmiths and ironworkers. They are most closely associated with the Chotanagpur Plateau region, especially in Jharkhand, where they are recognized as a Scheduled Tribe They are an Indigenous people, with Karmali as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Munda-Santal people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Hinduism. They primarily speak Maithili.
