The Saifi of India

The Saifi of India, numbering approximately 638,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Muslim carpentry and blacksmithing community of western Uttar Pradesh, their name recalling the Arabic word for sword from an ancestral trade of sword-making. Agricultural labor and government service now supplement these crafts. They are an Indigenous people in the Urdu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Urdu and their primary religion is Sunni Islam.
