They are described as a caste community of Andhra Pradesh who speak Telugu and are primarily agriculturalists, divided into four totemic gotras and historically associated with military service to Vizianagaram rulers They are an Indigenous people, with Aiyarakulu as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Telugu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Telugu.
