The Khulwant of India

The Khulwant of India, numbering approximately 2,700 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a fishing and agricultural community of eastern Champaran district in Bihar who trace migration from eastern Uttar Pradesh. They are closely related to the Kaibartta. Mostly landless, they work as agricultural and fishing laborers. They are an Indigenous people in the Bhojpur-Maithili people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Bhojpuri and their primary religion is Hinduism.
