They are an Indigenous Algonquian people of northeastern North America, whose homeland lies primarily along the Penobscot River in Maine. They are one of the historic Native nations of the Northeastern Woodlands and a central member of the Wabanaki Confederacy They are an Indigenous people, in the North American Indigenous people cluster of the North American Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Protestantism. They primarily speak English.
