The Deori of India

The Deori of India, numbering approximately 69,500 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Scheduled Tribe of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh serving as the priestly section of the Chutiya community, whose name derives from devorihika, meaning temple keeper, and who migrated from the Lohit region during Ahom rule. They are an Indigenous people in the South Asian Tribal people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Deori and their primary religion is Folk Hinduism.
