They are a landowning Hindu community whose primary occupations are cultivation and agricultural labor They are an Indigenous people, with Benita Odia / Odiya as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Odia people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Odia.
