They are described as an indigenous community of Tibeto-Burmese in Northeast India and Bangladesh They are an Indigenous people, with Garo (Mande, Achik) as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Garo-Tripuri people cluster of the Himalayan Peoples. Their primary religion is Animism. They primarily speak Garo.
