They are a Scheduled Tribe of Gujarat and Maharashtra, also found in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, tracing legendary descent from Rajput princes who married Naika women, and traditionally dependent on agriculture and fishing. They mostly adhere to Hinduism and Gujarati is their primary language.
