They are a community of India, spread over the states of West Bengal, Odisha, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Goa. They are an Indigenous people in the Bengali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Marathi and their primary religion is Hinduism.
