The Balija of India

The Balija of India, numbering approximately 2,085,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Telugu-speaking trading and agricultural community of southern India, whose name derives from the Sanskrit bali (sacrifice) and ja (born), signifying origin from a yagnam. They are largely Vaishnavite and often bear the title Naidu. They are an Indigenous people in the Telugu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Telugu and their primary religion is Vaishnavaism.
