They are an ethnolinguistic community of Mexico and can also be known as San Miguel Chimalapa, Santa Maria Chimalapa, Juchitán, Zoque. They are an Indigenous people, in the Mixe people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Folk Catholicism. They primarily speak Spanish.
