They are described as an ethnolinguistic community of Indonesia (Papua), south coast border area, east of Marind along Maro River They are an Indigenous people, with Yei as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the New Guinea people cluster of the Pacific Islander Peoples. Their primary religion is Protestantism. They primarily speak Yei.
