The Eastern Samadu of China, numbering approximately 800 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are described as an indigenous Yi subgroup of Zijun Village in Kunming, distinct from the Western Samadu and now primarily Mandarin-speaking as its Samu language nears extinction They are an Indigenous people, with Samadu as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Other Tibeto-Burmese people cluster of the Tibetan Peoples. They mostly adhere to Chinese Folk Religion and Mandarin Chinese is their primary language.
