They are an ethnic group indigenous to Mali's Kayes region, descendants of the Fula and Malinke Khasso kingdoms. They are an Indigenous people, in the Malinke people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Islam - Sunni. They primarily speak Xaasongaxango.
