Although officially classified as part of the Zhuang nationality, they have a separate and distinct identity They are an Indigenous people, with Dianbao as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Zhuang people cluster of the Southeast Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion. They primarily speak Zhuang, Yang.
