The Tangchangya of Bangladesh, numbering approximately 34,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are described as an Indigenous people of the Chittagong Hill Tracts who trace their heritage to migrations from the Arakan region and maintain a distinct Tanchangya identity closely related to, but separate from, the neighboring Chakma They are an Indigenous people, with Tangchangya as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the South Asian Buddhist people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. They mostly adhere to Theravada Buddhism and Tangchangya is their primary language.
