They are one of the oldest and most historically significant Indigenous tribes in Virginia, with deep roots in the Powhatan Confederacy and a continuous presence in the region for thousands of years They are an Indigenous people, in the North American Indigenous people cluster of the North American Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Protestantism. They primarily speak English.
