The Danau of Myanmar, numbering approximately 5,700 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are described as a small Mon-Khmer people near Aungban in Shan State, the most divergent branch of the Palaungic family, speaking a four-tone language with heavy Burmese borrowing, frequently and mistakenly confused with the larger, unrelated Danu people They are an Indigenous people, with Danau as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Mon-Khmer people cluster of the Southeast Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Theravada Buddhism. They primarily speak Danau.
