They are an indigenous community of Guatemala; a dialect subgroup of Mam (mam) and can also be known as Mam Sur-Oriental, Quetzalteco, Mam Sureno, Ostuncalco, San Juan Ostuncalco, Quetzaltenango. They are an Indigenous people, in the Maya people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Folk Catholicism. They primarily speak Mam.
