The Berad of India

The Berad of India, numbering approximately 250 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Shiva-worshipping community of Kolhapur and Sholapur in Maharashtra whose name derives from bedar, meaning "one who is not afraid." Once known as hunters, the Berad have turned to cultivation and agricultural labor. They are an Indigenous people in the Telugu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Telugu and their primary religion is Hinduism.
