The Candala of India

The Candala of India, numbering approximately 7,100 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are an Odia-speaking Scheduled Caste community of Koraput district in Odisha, traditionally settled cultivators and weavers organized into exogamous clans. They are also known as Chandal, and many now work as agricultural laborers. They are an Indigenous people in the Odia people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Odia and their primary religion is Hinduism.
