The Koiren of India

The Koiren of India, numbering approximately 1,700 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a small Scheduled Tribe of Senapati district and the Imphal valley in Manipur, tracing origin to a cave and eight founding clans, of which two survive. Shifting cultivation remains their occupation, and most follow their old faith. They are an Indigenous people in the Manipuri people cluster of the Himalayan Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Koireng and their primary religion is Animism.
