The Thoraiyar of India

The Thoraiyar of India, numbering approximately 1,500 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are described as a Tamil Nadu community of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, and Dharmapuri districts who migrated from Karnataka, also called Kannada Naicker, traditionally sellers of betel leaves and lime. These trades continue today They are an Indigenous people, with Toraiyar as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Kanarese people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. They mostly adhere to Hinduism and Kannada is their primary language.
