The Gavli of India

The Gavli of India, numbering approximately 17,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Gujarati community that migrated from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh a century ago, whose name may derive from gay, meaning cow, traditionally cowherds and milkmen now shifting into service and wage labor. They are an Indigenous people in the Hindi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Hindi and their primary religion is Hinduism.
